Guestbook

Having stayed in quite a few excellent cottage rentals I can confidently state that this one stands out head and shoulders above the rest. The Cot has character and history combined with 21st Century comfort and facilities that leave one enchanted. Hideaway nooks and crannies used for contraband or to evade press gangs combine with low beamed ceilings and doorways suggesting how the dwellers of the past lived here. It's a glass throw away from the Arms which itself is wall to wall charactuer and characters from the mayor with curiously trimmed trouser bottoms to the singers and artists who evoke a sense of times gone by. If I have one negative to throw into the mix for balance it is that we had to leave. This is a home from home and then some. Stay, embrace the vibe and leave enriched by the experience. I feel privileged to have been allowed a glimpse into this world. Thank you

Trevor,

Spent a lovely week here using it as a base for exploring the gorgeous area nearby. We were here with our very energetic Sprocker Spaniel Tico who had great fun charging around the lovely, large, enclosed garden!! The bungalow is very comfortable with all the comforts of home...having a dishwasher and washing machine was a godsend! The conservatory is a proverbial sun trap and to have lovely table and chairs in the garden to enjoy the peace and quiet and sunshine and of course a cider or 2 was a real bonus... Will certainly return....and the welcome of milk, wine and flowers was a lovely touch. Thank you so much to Fiona and Simon!

Katja D,

Lovely location, everything was as promised. Would stay again.

We booked for our family, 5 adults and Dexter the dog. All had a great time. Cottage was great everything you needed and with wifi and Sky. Garden catches the sun all afternoon with chairs and loungers. Fiona was really helpful and made sure we felt at home. Coastal walks and circular walks are lovely. Wonderful fresh fish, lobster and crab from the fishermen landed 2mins from our plates. Pub - great beer food and breakfast if you are feeling lazy and locals all very friendly. Good base to travel around this wonderful part of the UK. We recommend Newton Equestrian Centre all abilities catered for the 1.5 hour beach ride was amazing. Cornish Curry Company Helston only open two/three nights a week. Great value really tasty organic curry cooked by Conish people - take away only. Cadgwith and Pebbles? You wont regret it :-)

Owen S,

I chose Creekside in Gweek in Cornwall to meet my daughter Jen's boyfriend family and spend some quality time there with another Daughter Melissa and grand baby Everest. It was the perfect accommodation and met all our needs. The cottage is charming and clean and very well equipped. The location is within walking distance of a very good pub and a grocery store that manages to have mostly everything one need. We were able to park our rental car right in front of the cottage. Fiona, the owner, supplied us with a highchair and portable crib for our little one and we all slept well in our comfortable beds. If I return to Cornwall again I would certainly book this lovely cottage.

Lucy M,

Beautiful cozy cottage in stunning scenery. Amazing views from a lovely garden. The locals in the village and in the cadgwith arms were very welcoming and full of character. Defiantly a place to go back to and keep our little secret. See you soon x

Creekside Cottage,Gweek was 'just' perfect for our Christmas stay, in Cornwall! The cottage was beautifully appointed, with some lovely features including; A range, Victorian style wrought Iron fireplace & wooden shutters....& that was just in the lounge!! The conservatory was great for keeping all our 'Christmas goodies' cool & with two very good sized double bedrooms, a bunk room & a lovely large bathroom with shower & roll top bath, we really couldn't have wished for anything more. Fiona & Simon, the owners did everything to make our stay perfect, from leaving us all a lovely bottle of wine, a bunch of Tulips & a Cream Tea with homemade Scones, local Jam & Clotted Cream + they came to check all was OK & we weren't needing anything! All in all a truly memorable holiday.

I have no hesitation recommending this cottage. For us, the location was perfect, the cottage is warm, the beds are comfortable, we felt at home right away. The children were safe to wander to the shop & green area.

Mrs Ellis,

Creekside is a lovely cottage with a lot of space, ideal for anyone, couples, groups of friends, families with kids. It has got everything you need: a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, wifi.. everything! Fiona and Simon are great people, very friendly and always helpful in case you need anything! Also, the cottage is situated in Gweek, a lovely tiny village where you can experience a bit of Cornwall while relaxing, or maybe passing by while on a tour of the county (don't forget the Seal Sanctuary as well!). What else to say.. perfect experience, wonderful place, will definitely come back if I get the chance. Loved it!

Miss Busso,

Cadgwith is a postcard-perfect fishing village, and we spent an idyllic 2 weeks there in The Cot, enjoying the fabulous scenery on the coastal trails, and sampling the best fish and seafood we’d ever imagined. We felt privileged to stay in a cottage so old and steeped in history and yet so comfortable, cozy and obviously well-loved by its owners. It’s location in the village is ideal – only a minute’s walk from the village pub and the beach, but very quiet even during a thunderstorm. We used the car park a short walk away on the other side of the village rather than try to park and drive through the very narrow streets. The cottage was perfect for a couple, and would work for a family of four. The main floor had a nice-sized kitchen and lounge with a separate washer/dryer area off the large bathroom with free-standing tub and separate shower cubicle. The fridge/freezer is just a small “under-the-counter” type, but you will want the get your fish fresh daily anyway, and groceries are conveniently available a very short walk or drive away in Ruan Minor. Upstairs, the 2 bedrooms were a good size. We enjoyed having the extra bedroom to use as a dressing room, and to store our suitcases. Although the main bedroom did have a small ensuite shower room with sink, it had no toilet. The cottage has a stove in the lounge, but we did not use it as we did not want to bother finding somewhere to purchase fuel for it and anyway the weather was unseasonably warm when we stayed!
The service from the owners was excellent and they were quick to respond to any queries. They happily provided us with fresh linens and towels for our second week when we asked for them. They also picked up our garbage after the first week so that we did not have to worry about bringing it around to the street on bin day.
The cottage has a rather “secret garden” that we did not discover until the last day. If you decide to stay here please be sure to make your way up the steps from the little back courtyard, and follow the path as it zigzags up to a tiered garden with a picnic table and benches and the most beautiful views over the village! Also, if you stay here, please say hello to the sweet little calico cat who likes to visit the cottages down the street daily.

This is a wonderful cottage in a beautiful village. There is nothing contrived about the cottage. It's so comfortable and well equipped that it feels as if you are borrowing it from a friend, rather than renting through strangers. The Cornish cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch. It's lovely to be woken up to the sound of the waves and seagulls, rather than the mobile phone ringing. There's very little signal in the cottage which is a bonus, although there is signal at the top of the beach if you're desperate :-) The pub next door serves good beer, very good food and the staff and locals are always happy to point you in the direction of some good walks and sightseeing opportunities. Can't wait to come back again.

Creekside is a lovely cottage and the perfect place for exploring Cornwall. It is very cosy and homely and offers all that you need for a family holiday. It is near some glorious beaches but also not far from towns like Falmouth, Truro, St Ives. There are plenty of attractions nearby to amuse the children in case of bad weather. Also plenty of lovely pubs and restaurants to keep the adults happy!

Spent a very enjoyable week in Pebbles a lovely fishermans cottage in the heart of Cadgwith Cove. It offers the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. The cottage is well appointed with a cosy lounge with woodburner and lovely bedrooms with pristine bedding. With wifi and Sky HD and the Cove only one minute away what more could you wish for.

We will definitely be revisiting !

Thanks to Fiona and Simon (the owners) for providing us with some great memories.

I would strongly recommend Pebbles

Second time this year we have visited with friends. Cottage has been updated with a brand new washroom. This is the best vacation rental we have stayed in in the UK. With an outstanding amount of equipment supplied. Simon and Fiona the owners live in the village, if there is anything you need to know ask Simon (he is a fountain of knowledge about Cornwall).

We spent a great week, roll on next September we cannot wait to visit again.

The cottage is light and airy and had everything we needed. All in all we had a lovely time and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit .

My husband and I stayed for a week here at Meadowside with our 1 year old retriever, Barney. The accommodation was excellent, comfortable and very homely. The 'little extras' that Fiona and Simon thought of make the bungalow more endearing. Thank you for the lovely scones and the milk in the fridge to be able to make a cup of tea after a long journey was most welcome.
We didn't venture far during our stay but the coastal walks around the Lizard are breath taking and we all enjoyed our daily adventures.
We had some lovely meals during our stay, The Helzephron Inn, Henleys and the Ship Inn to name a few - very good value for money and excellent food.
All in all a fantastic holiday which I would recommend to anyone.

Had a lovely stay here at the end of January with my boyfriend! It was cosy and beautifully finished, we especially loved the roll top bath, original beams and stove fireplace! Even out of season we found plenty to do in Cadgwith, going on walks and visiting nearby Ruan Minor for its little market. We were quite lucky with the weather considering the time of year!
We got fresh fish and fresh crab from the fishermen in the cove, which was absolutley beautiful. We also had a lovely meal at the Cadgiwth Cove in one night, and returned the next for folk music and the delicious local ale.
Would recommend the Cot to anyone and everyone, and will certainly be returning!

Ellen,

we booked a last minute holiday for a week in The Cot. great location, tiny fisherman's village with a , local pub - Cadgwith Inn - 2 mins walk from cottage.
parking was difficult due to style of village so be aware if high season but as with other things, full details when you book and further information in the cottage.
the cottage itself is right in the centre of the village and beautifully renovated to a high standard of comfort and care. Very warm for a stormy winter break, cream tea on arrival was nice . Two bathrooms both with great spacious and power showers. the cottage has a tiered garden out the back with a Fantastic view if you're prepared and able to climb up. A nice addition for the summer.
We loved the location - lots of walking and nearby places to visit and we became regulars in the localPub which had events every evening - quiz, live music, folk singing in the dead of winter as well as great food. we will return.

Averil Brown,

Pebbles is a fantastic place to stay. Upon arrival I was welcomed by Simon the owner, who gave up his own parking place so that i could park my car, as we were a party of friends there is normally only space for two cars.

When i parked my car Simon called, and took my Husband and I for a free welcome drink. What a great welcome!!!!. Pebbles is only a few steps form the local pub. I would add that we never heard a noise from that direction.

If you like quiet and solitude than i cannot recommend this accommodation too highly

We spent New Years eve in the pub, what a fantastic evening, we were made really welcome by the local people; and had one of the best new years ever.

Pebbles is really well furnished and equipped with everything you need for a self contained holiday.

Has friends of ours know Simon and Fi the owners from previous visits to Pebbles We were able to get to know them. What a lovely couple. We left feeling that we had made new friends. We are going back in September and for the next new year. I cannot recommend this accommodation high enough. Thank you Simon and Fi for a great week

Roy & Sue,

We have just returned from spending Christmas at Peebles. From the moment we stepped into the cottage, we all felt right at home. It was clean, well equipped, and a real cosy retreat from the stormy weather. The village is a true gem, and has a really strong community spirit. As it was Christmas, the whole village was awash with Christmas lights, and a huge Christmas tree lit up the harbour. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the Christmas Day swim was cancelled, but everyone still showed up in fancy dress to raise funds for a local charity.
We have stayed in many rentals around Cornwall, at all times of the year, but this holiday stands out head and shoulders above the others. You get the whole package. An excellent dog friendly cottage, with crisp white bedding, soft towels, and top quality electrical`s, all wrapped up in gorgeous surroundings. A real get away from it all holiday. Perfect.
Thank you Fiona and Simon

My friend and I stayed for three (too-short) weeks in The Cot in gorgeous Cadgwith, and were so sad to leave. Fiona & Simon are fantastic hosts, and provided us with a beautiful, clean, well-equipped and character-filled place to stay in The Cot. The Cot itself has been beautifully maintained and decorated, and is in a perfect location to enjoy the wild beauty of Cadgwith and Cornwall. It's right near the Cadgwith Cove Inn, for Folk Night on Tuesday and the Cadgwith Singers on Friday, and a minute from the beach. We didn't have a car, but walked up into Ruan Minor to utilise the local bus services to explore the surrounding villages and beaches, or worked on our leg muscles and walked the picturesque roads and public footpaths. I can't say enough good things about both The Cot and Cadgwith, and would be back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

this was our second visit to Meadowside and even better then the first!. Meadow way is like home from home but with a beach, everything that you need, with lovely arrival of flowers and cream tea. We had a lovely week away with two young children with lots to do every day in Cornwall.

Wendy,

Creekside: Lovely, comfortable cottage in centre of village. Appreciated central heating as weather was fine but cold.

Mrs L,

Pebbles:
We spent Xmas week in this cottage. The cottage was lovely. Although we know Cornwall well we had never stayed in Cadgwith before. I would defy anyone not to fall in love with this place. The pub was great , the village beautifully decorated and the locals very friendly. Met up with Simon and Fiona on Boxing day in the pub, really nice people. The best Xmas we have had for ages in terms of atmosphere. Very relaxing and very good value for money.

Mrs K,

The Cot:
If you want some peace and quiet out of season then the Cot is for you. The setting is idyllic. Cadgwith is a lovely typical Cornish fishing village. There's a pub 20 yards from the front door and there are locals that actually talk to you. The Cot itself is cosy and tastefully furnished and those nice little touches such as fresh flowers, scones, jam and fresh clotted cream on arrival are much appreciated. We can't really fault it to be honest and find it quite hard to leave each time we come to the end of our stay. Beautiful..and we very much look forward to each return trip.

Mr & Mrs M,

Creekside:
We have just booked our return visit for this year, the children loved it so much we stayed for two weeks but didn't get everything we wanted to do done.
The cottage was immaculate, warm, safe tastefully decorated and in a beautiful setting.
our four children felt relaxed and at home,my youngest daughter loved the little room off the back spent hours playing pretend house.scones on arrival made us smile.
such a great holiday

Mrs I,

Meadowside:
This accommodation is clean, warm and comfortable. It offers a great location from which to explore some of Cornwall's most spectacular coastline and stunning gardens. As a bonus, the coastal paths were filled with flowers on our visit in the middle of May.

Mr H,

Pebbles:
We've been here twice now & we've booked again for a third time. The location is ideal, the rooms are simple chic & pleasant, the garden is perfect for eating outside or just lazing around in. You don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to but there are lots of things / places to do / see if you want to travel round a bit. The coastal path walks in either direction are good but maybe a bit tricky if you're unsteady on your feet. The pub, the restaurant, the take-away [delicious crab sandwiches], the fishmonger & the gift shops have much to offer. The atmosphere & the village way of life are wonderful to experience.

Mr W,

Meadowside:
The property & its location was just what we wanted for ourselves and our dog. The weather was great & our dog loved the nearside Poldhu beach [which is open to dogs up to Easter ].The conservatory and large garden also was very useful.
By our error,we arrived a day early but Fiona and Simon took this in their stride and managed to accommodate us. Many thanks to you both !.

Mr B,

The Cot:
We've stayed here for 2 consecutive years - and will certainly be back. The cottage has been renovated to an amazing standard - every mod con (the bathrooms are fantastic) but still protecting the history of the building. Cream tea left for your arrival. fresh crab from the shop on the beach, friendly pub, chat to the fishermen(who starred in the BBC programme 'The Fisherman's Apprentice'). So much to do and see and there can't be a better base than The Cot - we love it!

Mr F,

Pebbles:
Pebbles was all we had hoped for and more. Being in the heart of the village with an adjoining parking space was a luxury. Once again the welcome given by the owners (fresh flowers and the fixings for a cream tea), was an indicator of the treat which lay ahead. The cottage was already charming, but even further renovations are planned. There were plenty of loos, baths and showers for all. The bedrooms were all very warm, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The sitting room was even more comfortable than expected with the addition of a stone fireplace and cosy bood burner and two enormous sofas to sprawl on! The sun room was a lovely place to hide away and paint village views. We loved it so much that we have booked to come again in the Summer.

Mrs M,

Meadowside:
This bungalow was tucked out of the way in a very quiet cul-de-sac, it was very clean and had everything you needed for that peaceful, relaxing holiday. The location was ideal for us as we were able to explore the Lizards and surrounding coast and so this was a very central location. It felt homely, cosy and perfect for a couple or family and considering it also accommodated our dog, you would never no an animal had every been in this bungalow because of how clean it had been kept. I would definately go back again. It was a great holiday.

Mrs S,

The Cot:
A welcome of home baked mince pies and an invitation to join in the fun of the christmas day sea swim. What a fab way to spend christmas in the beautiful Cot. With it snug log burner, summer house with views over the cove, our family celebrated our second happy and relaxing christmas here................ hope to come back for many more. Thankyou.

michelle shaw,

Pebbles:
We looked all over the web to find a suitable cottage for our December holiday break. Trying to please 6 people was not an easy task, the requests were: walking distance from the beach and pub, traditional cottage feel, kitchen equipped for cooking a roast dinner, an open fire, no bunk beds, more than one bathroom, cute little town with great atmosphere and a swim on Christmas day.. well we are happy to say that Pebbles had all this and more! What a fantastic break we had, it was so relaxing, the first day we made a great discovery when we walked almost next door to the pub (we didn't hear any extra noise either). The locals were so friendly and made us feel at home straight away. Meals in the pub and around the area (Lizard) were amazing, such large roasts and good food. The highlight was the swim on Christmas day where it seemed the whole town came out - don't miss this! We had never seen such a lovely little town, filled with charming boats and with lights strung out across the beach for the holidays, it was really spectacular. Spending our nights around the fire was a highlight and the wifi was fast and convenient for those who had to work a little during their break. All commented that the beds were extremely comfortable. We were made to feel at home with a lovely card and we also appreciated the flexibility with dates as well. We would not hesitate to recommend to our friends and hope to come back soon.

Mr & Mrs P,

Creekside:
Lovely home from home cottage, very generous surprise on arrival i.e. fresh flowers and homemade scones with clotted cream and preserve (thanks Fiona) the cottage is warm and comfortable, large rooms with a modern feel whilst still retaining character, the idyllic setteing is the village of gweek (a proper village with shop / post office and the village pub) the pub serves great meals and quite a few local ales. can reccomend a trip to helford village and for those of you who like walking then the helford passage is a must, falmouth and truro are a short drive away and its approx 3 miles to helston

Mr T,

Meadowside:
Lovely light and airy bungalow, in a quiet position with a large enclosed garden. It is very spacious and clean, well equipped with everything to make your stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

The village of Cury is a very good location to stay whilst exploring the rest of west Cornwall. So many wonderful coves and villages to visit.

We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.

Mr & Mrs E,

Pebbles:
I travelled with my two year old daughter and my mum and dad. Pebbles could easily have accommodated another couple without feeling crowded. The cottage itself has so much character and its locality to the beach which is used by local fishermen is yet another plus point. The people in the village are extremely friendly and if you don't want to eat in then Cadgwith Cove Inn is a 30 second walk from the cottage and serves beautiful food, often incorporating local produce. The surrounding area is stunning with places like Kennack Sands just a few minutes drive along with the Lizard and Kynance Cove. My daughter is still asking me when we are going back to its safe to say that Pebbles was wonderful.

Ms T,

Meadowside:
Good base to explore this part of Cornwall. October was fabulous, as the sea temperature was good for bodyboarding and there are no dog bans on the beaches, which we had almost to ourselves!

Mrs P,

The Cot:
'We enjoyed our stay very much. We come to Cornwall each year at least once; our stay at The Cot was our most comfortable and our most atmospheric yet.
My wife says that it was the perfect location and high quality accommodation.
My eldest son says that it was a great cottage in a beautiful village.
My youngest son gave a resounding thumbs up!'

Mr S,

The Cot:
'A fantastic week in a fantastic, beautiful cottage. We are so happy to have found The Cot and we will come back to this little slice of Cornish heaven. Fiona, Simon, you have been complete stars - thank you for making us feel so very welcome and at home here, thank you too for the flowers and the delicious cream tea. You have done magical things with this cottage.'

Mr & Mrs G,

We have fallen in love with The Cot and Cadgwith's charm with its unspoilt, picture postcard higgledy, piggledy cottages and lanes to the rugged coastline, stunning views and cliff top walks. We don't want to leave ...'
